Google releases June 2026 spam update

HIGHLIGHTS

1. No new spam policy announced

Google described this as a “normal spam update” and did not introduce new spam rules alongside the rollout. This means existing spam policies remain the framework being enforced.

2. Stronger SpamBrain enforcement

The update appears to be another refinement of Google’s AI-powered spam detection system, SpamBrain. Sites relying on manipulative SEO tactics may see ranking losses even if they previously escaped detection.

3. AI-generated content is still under scrutiny

Google continues targeting scaled content abuse rather than AI content itself. Blogs publishing large volumes of low-value, templated, or lightly edited AI articles are at greater risk than sites using AI as a writing assistant for original content.
